I really could have gone the rest of my life without knowing what ABDL means or that it was a even a thing.

I find the way that the worst of the ABDLs conduct themselves online mirrors the way that a lot of activists in other identity movements successfully forced their way into mainstream liberalism. I also have seen a lot of overlap between these various, self-determined identities (not just in this episode with Claudia).

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I find ABDL icky too (though what happens between consenting adults in private is none of my business), but I think studying the worst behaviour of these fringe identity groups can perhaps provide some clarity, or at least entertainment, in light of our current cultural moment. Just my feeling on it though.

I enjoyed the episode, truly. I was just joking about how while entertaining it's also demoralizing. I also don't care what consenting adults do but I do care when they broadcast it or proselytize. It's really a slippery slope from "who cares what you do in the privacy of your bedroom" to "Why do you care I'm teaching about diaper fetishes to school children, bigot!"

I'm into weird stuff too but I'm never talking about it openly. Not necessarily even because I'm ashamed but because I know no one wants/needs to hear about it.

I think we agree. While I don’t think shame is a productive emotion, there is a such thing as privacy.

It really... isn't? Like no one thinks that there's no need to design a sex-ed curriculum that's age-appropriate-- that would make no more sense than designing a math curriculum that's not age-appropriate.

But the mere existence, without more, of gay and trans people is never age-inappropriate.

THIS. And they keep doing shows on it.

Tbf, ABDL was little more than a footnote in a broader tale of yet another organization stumbling blindly into ideological capture and the attendant missteps and malpractice along the way.

That’s good to hear.

My comment was a bit of a joke. I do enjoy when they cover degenerates far more than when they were talking about Israel and trans stuff.

While I do feel depressed, it still is entertaining which is why I'm here.

Yeah, well, I recently visited my father in a nursing home, and hearing people appropriate incontinence as a fetish is pretty vile to me (as well as environmentally when these are not people who are incontinent). It always seems the stories about them drift towards pedophilia, as we heard in this episode, too.

It’s all just part of the rich stew of self-obsessed, porn-addicted narcissism the Internet has turned us into. ABDL, DEI training, pretendians, all fruit of the same poisonous tree.
