Drink Your Way Sober sounds like the name of a Troy McClure infomercial. I love it!

After I listened to the reflector episode I was kinda slack jawed, I wish there was something like this when I quit years ago.

Like you I loved it,but knew it had to end.

Mine ended with total psychological and emotional collapse. So yeah, I’m gonna read this puppy. Thanks for enduring the sharing part, I know it’s gross and such.

Hi! I'm a friend of Jesse's; I was actually his nanny! LOL I ordered your book and I can't wait to read it! Tell Jesse I said hi! Good luck with the book!

jojoZ's avatar

ohhh! Tell us some stories of tiny Jesse please

Tizzy's avatar

Tiny? I heard he was 5’10” when he was born.

I knew Jesse had a fairly wealthy upbringing. But I didn't know it was nanny without an Eastern European or hispanic name wealthy.

Congratulations, Katie! Alcohol destroyed my family when I was a kid and if this book can help even one person avoid the situation I grew up in, it was worth writing. I can't wait to see how many other books you publish before Jesse finishes his. <3

Wonderful, Katie. Aren’t you marvellous. So, so proud. We got sober around the same time, so when you told your story it felt very personal.

You have such a huge influence and impact on those of us who don’t quite fit in. Well, on me anyway. Thank you.

Is there an audio book coming?

Henry's avatar

Should Jesse do the audio?

I heard Chase Strangio has volunteered.

Yes, I would be v v interested in this option!

Bought. Naltrexone saved me and my family. The world needs to know about this option.

(Your results may vary. Side effects include listening to B and R while walking, random spouting-off in the comments section, and an aversion to "gender affirming care." Do not take Katie's Book if allergic to Katie's Book, and tell your doctor if you experience a loss of consciousness while reading it [not sure how you're supposed to do that if you're unconscious, but...]

Will you sign my Kindle version, please?

`an aversion to "gender affirming care."'

Does the trans issue have to infect everything? Some trans people have issues with alcohol and could benefit from Naltrexone, just like anyone other abuser/sufferer.

Naltrexone helped me.

JayDub's avatar

No it doesn't have to infect everything. I was making a joke or trying to be humorous. I could have mentioned an aversion to taxes, to dirty toilet seats, or any one of a million things. I didn't choose those things--but did choose "gender affirming care" to have a laugh about.

Sorry my mention of it pushed you over the edge--don't let it drive you to drink! :-)

(Glad naltrexone helped you too!)

Preordered! Should I request that my local public library buy it too?

10/10 on headline and subhead. No notes.

Congratulations, Katie!!

Pre-ordered. Glad to hear this worked for you, Katie. You’re a good egg.

I can't believe the publisher is ok with "A Not Jesse Singal Book." Like it's going to be one in a series?

Pre-Ordered so fast!! Hope she does a book tour :D

Yes! Come to Northampton, Mass, Katie. Bookstores galore (or at least what in 2025 one could call “galore”).

Harold Gee's avatar

That would require travel and we know how she feels about that...

Tristan's avatar

Helping her sell more books than Jesse is a very convincing pitch.

Pre-ordered, and interested not just as a listener but as someone who’s had alcohol issues. Exciting!

Denial almost killed me. 6 years here. Congrats on being AF whatever your path is looking forward to adding this to my QuitLit section! This Naked Mind by Annie Grace changed me many moons ago and haven’t had a drink in almost 8 years.

I have been looking forward to reading your book ever since Andy Mills interviewed you on Reflector. Our country needs to hear about medication-assisted addiction treatment, because the success rate of 12-step programs is not impressive. I admire you, Katie, for talking so candidly about your experiences. Your book will help people. I just pre-ordered the book and am eager to read it in September!
